Start Windows in Safe Mode
1) If Windows 95 is running:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Shut Down...'. (The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box appears.)
c) Select the 'Restart the computer' radio button and click 'Yes'. (The computer restarts.)
2) If necessary, turn on the computer.
3) When the 'Starting Windows 95' message appears, press F8. (The 'Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu' appears.)
4) Do one of the following to select the desired safe mode:
a) To start Windows 95 in normal mode, press 1.
b) To maintain network connections when Windows 95 starts, press 4.
c) To start Windows 95 in a command-line mode, press 6.
5) Press ENTER. (Windows 95 starts in the selected mode.)
NOTE: When Windows 95 is started in safe mode, only the essential device drivers required by the operating system will be loaded. You will not be able to access printers, CD-ROM devices, or sound cards.
